EDUCATION AND RESOURCE CENTER

About Us

Human trafficking for labor and sex is a multi-billion dollar world-wide criminal industry.  MAST is an organization developed to support education through data exchange and prevention through collaboration and outreach.

FACT: In addition to the global market, trafficking children for sex has become shockingly prevalent in cities across America. Educate yourself, know what to look for and help MAST by joining the forces that are working to put a stop to human trafficking for labor and sex.

The mission of Mother's Against Sex Trafficking  (MAST) is to help raise awareness, provide resources, and strategically align our efforts with organizations working to stop human trafficking for labor and sex.

RESOURCES

Human Trafficking Hotline and Website

Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. This crime occurs  when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another  person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting  labor or services against his/her will. Force, fraud, or coercion need  not be present if the individual engaging in commercial sex is under 18  years of age. Learn More: https://humantraffickinghotline.org/

Operation Underground Railroad

O.U.R. has gathered the world's experts in extraction operations and in anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery.  O.U.R.'s Underground Jump Team consists of former CIA, Navy SEALs, and  Special Ops operatives that lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. These operations are always in conjunction with law  enforcement throughout the world.

Once victims are rescued, a comprehensive process involving justice for the perpetrators and recovery and rehabilitation for the survivors  begins.

TRUE STORIES

Debbie

Fifteen-year-old "Debbie" is the middle child in a close-knit Air Force family from suburban Phoenix, and a straight-A student -- the last  person most of us would expect to be forced into the seamy world of sex  trafficking.

But Debbie, which is not her real name, is one of thousands of young  American girls who authorities say have been abducted or lured from  their normal lives and made into sex slaves. While many Americans have  heard of human trafficking in other parts of the world -- Thailand,  Cambodia, Latin America and eastern Europe, for example -- few people  know it happens here in the United States.

The FBI estimates that well over 100,000 children and young women are  trafficked in America today. They range in age from 9 to 19, with the  average age being 11.  Read more: https://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=1596778&page=1

Dominique

Dominique (name has been changed to protect the survivor) was just 13  years old. Exploited as a victim of commercial sex trafficking. Four  years later she became one of Saving Innocence’s first clients. After  initial assessments by the team, Dominique was matched with a caseworker  who would become not only her court advocate as she maneuvered the  intricacies of the juvenile court system, but has also acted as a mentor  for Dominique as she clawed her way out of “the life” into a state of  healing. More than anything, Dominique’s case manager has become a  long-term friend and confidant, in a world that had been marked by  constant abandonment and abuse. Now, at age 18, Dominique has moved  beyond victimization to become an empowered young adult who is currently  attending school regularly and has a part-time job in health care. This  is just one example of the many beautiful and talented young women that  Saving Innocence has encountered, nourished, and grown to love over the  last years. There are so many more and that is why everyone needs to  get involved. https://www.savinginnocence.org/

Holly Austin Smith

The man stripped off his clothes and told me I reminded him of his granddaughter': Holly Austin Smith was just 14 when she was taken by a sex trafficker. Man named Greg convinced her to run away to Atlantic City with him. Forced her to work as a prostitute on streets and raped her himself. Eventually rescued by police who spotted that she was underage. Now 36, Holly has written a book called Walking Prey about the experience. http://hollyaustinsmith.com/
